It’s Not Too Late | Blogust 2025

It's a little wild to think that just eight months ago, I was completely lost. But now, seeing so many pieces of my life fall into place, I can't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude. My heart can't help but say "Thank You, Lord!" Today, I'm doing something a little different. In fact, I'm starting by crossing off the very first item on my #37 list from yesterday's post: writing a letter to my future self.

Dear 38-year-old me,
I hope this letter finds you well. Are you happy? Are you healthy? I'm curious to know: did we finally kick that sugar habit? What was your first year back in the classroom like? I know we were so excited to be "adulting" again and contributing more to our family. How are Daniel and the kids? I bet Danny is getting more handsome by the day, and I'm sure the kids still need to slow down on all that growing up.
This is what the Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
Honestly, if you're reading this, I hope you've chosen to continue trusting in God's timing. For so long, we felt like our time was running out, that there was nothing more to live for. Thankfully, we were way off! You started year 36 with setback after setback, drowning in anxiety and depression early in 2025. But you climbed out of that pit. You found your confidence again, got out of your comfort zone, and landed your dream job. You experienced firsthand how God had been planning to answer prayers from over a decade ago.
Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything: for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
The message I'm trying to share has been affirmed in so many ways that I know it had to be the Spirit gently declaring: you still have time! As long as God allows breath to fill your lungs, you're not too old to live an abundant life. Your purpose has been the same since before you were born: to be joyful, give thanks to God in everything, pray without ceasing, forgive much, love much, act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God, trusting Him to direct your path through all seasons of life.
He who calls you is faithful: He will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:24
God's plan for you is not a career path, but the posture of your heart. When you stop caring what the world thinks and choose to walk in obedience with the Lord, everything changes. The shift is supernatural, the joy is insurmountable, and the peace is out of this world. I hope you're living full of grace and truth in 2026, using your talents and time to bring others closer to God and allowing His fruit to fill every inch of your life.

So, 38-year-old me, as you read this, I hope you're proud of the woman you're becoming. Hold fast to this peace, this gratitude, and the knowledge that God's timing is always perfect. I can't wait to see all the ways He continues to work in your life. You got this, Kendra!

with so much love,
Your 37-year-old self

And to everyone else reading this, I hope my letter to my future self inspires you to remember your own purpose. It's never too late to live the abundant life God has planned for you. Take a moment to reflect on your own journey, and remember: you still have time!

Therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you are also to forgive. Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful.
Colossians 3:12-15
