Mid-Year Reset | 75 Sparkling

Kendra Wesley's 75 Sparkling

There is something incredibly grounding about the middle of June. The year is exactly half over, summer is stretching out ahead of us, and the frantic pace of the spring rush is finally beginning to settle. It’s the perfect pocket of time to pause, take a deep breath, and check in with ourselves.

Often, we wait until January to talk about fresh starts, but I’ve always found that a mid-year reset is much more powerful. It’s a chance to look at the habits that serve us, rewrite the ones that don't, and claim control over our health and wellness before the busy autumn season arrives.

For me, this mid-year reset isn’t about grueling, punishing routines or rigid rules that leave me feeling like a failure the moment life gets unpredictable. I’m closer to 40 than 30 now, and I’m ready for sustainable, life-giving strength that honors my body, my hormones, and my metabolic health. That’s why I am officially launching my own custom version of a wellness challenge.

Welcome to 75 Sparkling! A 75-day journey designed to help me reclaim my vitality, reverse insulin resistance, and build strong habits that will last for decades to come. Here is exactly what it looks like, why I’m doing it, and how I’ve built a built-in safety net for real life!

What is the 75 Sparkling Challenge?
This challenge isn’t just about grit and endurance, but about finding your radiance, energy, and a sense of clarity. The beauty of this challenge is it's customized to fit your own life and values to ensure it actually serves you and creates sustainable change.

When is the 75 Sparkling Challenge?
I'm starting today, June 15th! The halfway point will be around July 21st, and the challenge will end right before my 38th birthday!

Why are you starting the 75 Sparkling Challenge now?
Summer naturally invites a different rhythm; more daylight, a change in pace, and perhaps a bit more flexibility. The key to starting now is to build scalable habits. These are goals that have a "summer version" (when I have more time and flexibility) and a "working version" (when my mornings and afternoons are strictly scheduled).

How is the 75 Sparkling Challenge different from other challenges?
This challenge is about consistency over perfection. The built-in flexibility creates a safety net which ensures that a chaotic summer day or an exhausting afternoon doesn't break my momentum. Instead of quitting, I just shift gears. To do so, there will be Tier A, Tier B, and Grace Card options!

Tier A is the standard, normal version. This option is the ultimate goal for those high-energy, "nothing-can-hold-me-back" kind of days.

Tier B is the micro version of the goal. This option is for low-energy, high stress, or incredibly busy days.Instead of skipping a habit entirely when I am overwhelmed, I do a scaled-back version to keep the neurological loop alive. It protects the identity of keeping the habit without requiring the full output of energy.

The "Grace Cards" work in a couple of different ways. I'll give myself 3 full-day cards for the days when things get way out control (as they sometimes can) and my goals are the lowest priority of my day. It acts as a kind of "streak freeze," so I am motivated to pick right back up the next day instead of focusing on failure. Secondly, I will give myself 5 goal passes. On any given day when  I can't possibly perform the full or scaled back version of a goal, I can simply use this as a "wildcard" so that I can still check something off as completed, again, without making me focus on the failure.

The big picture goal is to remove the guilt once I return to work in the fall. Scaling back will happen on auto-pilot and help me to stay on track! It is so empowering to build a challenge that works with my life instead of against it! Combining both tools gives me the perfect balance: Tier B keeps my momentum steady on low-energy days, and Grace Cards give me total peace of mind for those rare, unpredictable moments when I need to be fully present elsewhere.

The Core Pillars behind the 75 Sparkling are Sleep, Hydration, Nourishment, Movement, and Creative Reflection. The Tiers are broken down into the following manageable goals:

The mindset shift is the most powerful part of this entire challenge. The "all-or-nothing" approach to fitness is a trap that leads straight to burnout, and it completely ignores how our bodies actually work.

In my thirties and moving into your forties and beyond, metabolic health and hormone balance require strategy, not punishment. Building muscle is the absolute fountain of youth, but muscle doesn’t grow during the workout—it grows during the recovery. By intentionally scheduling rest and low-cortisol days, I'm not "skipping" a workout; I am actively executing the recovery phase of my plan. It is a necessary, productive step toward getting strong.

When I look at my tracker on a rest day and see that I took my post-meal walks, drank my water, and ate my fiber first, I can proudly check off every single daily box. I didn't miss a thing; I had a completely successful day!

Finishing Sparkling 75 on August 28th means I will head into my birthday weekend on the ultimate high; feeling radiant, physically strong, and completely in control of my health.

Your late thirties are a beautiful, powerful time to claim your vitality, and gifting myself this challenge is the ultimate act of self-care. When August 30th arrives, I won't just be celebrating another year of life; I’ll be celebrating the strong, sustainable foundation I built over the summer to carry me through this next chapter and beyond!

And that is the blueprint for my Sparkling 75! What I love most about this framework is that it moves away from the "all-or-nothing" trap. By including scaled-back "Tier B" options and a handful of intentional "Grace Cards," I’m designing a summer routine that works with my life, not against it. Because let’s be honest—summer is meant for making memories, and life is going to happen over the next two and a half months!

The countdown is officially on. Day 75 will wrap up on August 28th giving me the ultimate gift of feeling strong, radiant, and completely refreshed just in time to celebrate my 38th birthday on August 30th. Whether you are looking to do a full overhaul or just want to cultivate a few pockets of peace in your daily routine, I highly encourage you to design your own version of a mid-year reset this week. Your body, your mind, and your future self will thank you for it.

I’ll be sharing updates on my progress throughout the summer, so stay tuned! Are you focusing on any specific wellness goals right now? What does a mid-year reset look like for you this season? Let me know in the comments below. Let's cheer each other on!
