Design Notes Week One | Design Your Year 2026

Kendra's Design Notes Week 1

We are a little over a week into January, and I’m going to be completely honest with you: I already feel like I’ve fallen behind. How did Week One of the challenge go for you? If you weren’t able to sit down with your guidebook every single day, or if your "Word of the Year" still feels a bit fuzzy, I want you to know that you are definitely not alone. I am spending my own weekend playing catch-up right alongside you.

There is a strange pressure that comes with January 1st. An expectation that we have to be at 100% capacity from the moment the clock strikes midnight. I certainly wasn't there! But I’ve had to remind myself of a core truth of this challenge: Design is a process, not a race.

Small Steps > Standing Still. It can be hard to believe that the small, messy steps we took last week are leading to something big, but they are. Even if all you did was scribble a few thoughts for your Brain Dump or think about your Core Values while driving to work, you are moving. Small steps are always better than standing in place. I’ve told myself that I’m not waiting around for the "perfect time" to start steering my year, because that time doesn't exist. The only time we have is now.

Week Two is where the rubber meets the road. In Week One, we looked at the big picture; finding your North Star, defining your values, and hearing from your Future Self. This week, we move into The Flow of the Four Seasons. We are going to take that massive Master Brain Dump from Day 5 and organize it into a tactical, seasonal strategy. We’ll be covering:

The 80/20 Edit: Pruning the "good" so we can focus on the "great."
The 90-Day Logic: Why planning in seasons beats planning in years.
Seasonal Dashboards: Mapping out your Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn.

Today can be Day One. If you haven’t started yet, please don’t feel like you’ve missed the boat. The 2026 Guidebook is designed to be jump-started at any time. Whether it’s January 10th or June 10th, the best day to start designing your life is today.

[Grab your free Guidebook HERE] and let's start designing our 2026 together. I’ll see you back here tomorrow for Day 6 as we start the 80/20 Edit!
