But what if summer mornings didn't have to be a race? What if we could shift from chaos to calm, even amidst the beautiful unpredictability of life? Perhaps you, too, have felt the pull between the desire for a calm start and the reality that rarely cooperates.
This summer, instead of resigning ourselves to hurried beginnings, let's explore how to cultivate slow and intentional morning rituals that bring peace and purpose to our day. It's not about having an unwavering and perfect routine, but finding consistent moments of peace that will nourish your soul and set a gentler tone for the day ahead.

Prep the night before.
A good morning actually begins the evening prior! A good night’s sleep will help you wake up ready to take on a new day. Set your coffee pot timer so you can wake to the smell of a fresh brew. Lay out your workout clothes, or place other items you’ll be needing in a basket or designated spot where you can grab them easily. The less you have to think first thing, the more time you have to be intentional.
Limit screen time.
Once that alarm is off, resist the urge to pick up your phone. Instead, get up, move your body, and focus on being present in the moment. Emails and social media will still be there, but your head will be clearer and your mind will be better prepared to take on your daily to-do list.
Hydrate first.
Your body works best when it’s hydrated. Make it a habit to have a full glass of water before you even reach for your coffee!
Add a touch of whimsy.
Light a candle. Turn on an aesthetic YouTube video. Listen to an instrumental playlist. These little touches can elevate the ordinary and boost your mood as you greet the day!

Savor your coffee or tea.
Slow down by enjoying each sip of your favorite hot beverage of choice (even if it’s been years since you’ve been able to finish a whole cup while it’s hot). Savor each sip for a few quiet minutes before you move onto the next task.
Connect with nature.
Fresh air and sunshine are one of the best prescriptions every body needs, but if you can’t step outside first thing, window gazing will do! Watching the sunrise from a cozy chair or observing the birds at the feeder while savoring your coffee can provide a wonderfully peaceful start to your day.

Devotion and mindful contemplation.
Bible study and prayer will help prepare you for whatever the day brings and keep the Truth in your heart throughout the day. Journaling will also help to clear your head before your day truly sets off. You can fit in a devotional and journaling session in any amount of time, even just a few minutes!
Be present.
Whatever comes your way, take on each day with gratitude. Remember that perfection isn't the vibe; consistency is key, and even a tiny sliver of calm and intention can make a world of difference. Take each opportunity to learn and grow, and most of all, remember that each day is a gift!
