It's been quite the season of waiting and "what ifs?" I've had to practice strengthening my "trust in the Lord" muscle in the meantime. There's no better way to fully let go of control and trust in God than when you're on a plane. If you couldn't already guess, I'm terrified of flying. I'm also scared of space and the ocean. And probably heights, too. Our captain made us aware of the coming storms and the turbulence that could come up, and the pit in my stomach grew even more. I had to use my imagination and close my eyes to pretend I was in a car on the road and hum "It Is Well with My Soul" to keep myself from visibly panicking and upsetting my sweet second-born who was traveling with me. God got us there and back safe, and I got in a few good lessons in trust during those hours spent closer to Heaven than earth. My desire to grow closer to the Lord has been reignited, to say the least.
July is fast approaching, but I have much still to look forward to! This post is going to help me recap the last several weeks and serve as my "currently" June feature. I've been wanting to sit down and write for a while now, but have been otherwise distracted.... not today! I'm caught up on laundry and housework, so I'm taking this calm, chill afternoon to catch up on my hobbies and do some future planning for the week ahead.
My Spring bucket list didn't amount to much, unfortunately. I didn't get outside to plant my chaos garden, didn't get around to hiking or packing up a picnic. I did manage to read two books last season! A Crown So Silver by Lyra Selene and Paint and Nectar by Ashley Clark. Currently looking for my next read; I had a few books on hold at the library that finally came in, but I've since lost interest. There's a book of botanical folklore that I might pick up for a fun read. One thing I need to learn more about, due to recent insight, is insulin resistance, so I may try to add that to my non-fiction list.
As you already know, I went to Phoenix last week to see Shakira during her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour! None of that would have been possible without my favorite cousin/best friend/ultimate inspiration, Erica! And my little Shaki fan, Evie, got to come along and join our she wolf pack, too! We stayed at a cute little Airbnb, enjoyed sleeping in and getting brunch out, playing "What Do You Meme?" and laughing until we cried, and, of course, getting all glamorous for the Shakira concert! I also got to see the saguaro cactus IRL for the first time while taking a scenic drive through South Mountain. I enjoyed having a few heart-to-hearts with Erica as well. Since we live in different time zones now, it was so good for my soul to have this time to catch up with her! Getting to experience Shakira with her will forever be one of the top 10 moments of my life. I introduced her to Shakira as soon as I discovered her myself. We spent many a summer jamming out to her albums and always knew we would have to see her on tour together! I sang and danced through the entire two hour concert. It felt like mere minutes; time really flies when you're having the time of your life! Getting to have that memorable night with my cousin and my daughter really made it all the more special. #shakifan4ever
In other news, I'll be teaching again this year! Now that my three are school age, I felt like it was time to get back out into my community to use my degree and God made a way for me! In fact, He ended up giving me two choices! I never imagined getting an offer after being a stay-at-home mom for over a decade, let alone two! I'm excited for this next chapter as a working mom and am grateful that I will still be able to be home with my own kiddos after the school day is over.
I could keep on rambling, but I'm going to wrap this one up here and get back to planning for a productive week ahead (which includes getting back to a regular blogging schedule, too)! I hope June has treated you well, Reader, and that a fantastic July awaits us all!
