We are taking a break from logic today and stepping into a time machine. Most people plan from the perspective of who they are today... stressed, tired, and perhaps a bit cynical. I want you to plan from the perspective of the person you are becoming. I want you to imagine it's December 25, 2026. The year is wrapping up, and you feel a profound sense of peace because you actually did it. You didn't just survive; you thrived! What does that version of you want to say to the "You" sitting here today?
This is a psychological tool called "Prospective Retrospection." When we imagine a success as if it has already happened, our brain begins to look for the path to get there. It’s no longer a "dream"; it’s a memory you haven't had yet. This letter will serve as your "Emotional North Star." On the days in March or August when you feel like quitting, you will come back to this letter to remind yourself what you are fighting for. You aren't just working toward a goal; you are honoring a promise you made to your future self.
In Your Guidebook on Page 10 (or page 9 in the free sample version) you'll find the prompts to help write your letter. Describe the wins you've achieved, but more importantly, describe the feeling. How does your body feel? How does your home feel? What are you no longer worried about? Be specific. Instead of "I'm successful," write "I walked into my office today knowing I am exactly where I belong."
BONUS | The 10-Minute Reset: Read your letter out loud. Notice where you felt the most "spark." Was it when you talked about your health? Your family? Your creative hobby? That spark is a giant neon sign pointing toward what your #1 priority should be for the first quarter of the year.
In Your Guidebook on Page 13 (or page 12 in the free sample version) you'll find space to create your 2026 vision board! This helps you to "see" that future as you're working toward it each day this year!
You've made it to the halfway point of week one! Keep it up, Reader!
