Sounds of the Season Blogmas 2025

Welcome back to Blogmas! Is it really Christmas without the music? For me, the holiday season doesn't officially begin until I hear those first few jingling bells on the radio (usually by November 1st). Music has a way of instantly transporting us. You aren't just driving to work or doing dishes; you’re walking in a winter wonderland! Today, I’m sharing the soundtrack to my December. These are the songs that are on repeat in my house, in the car, and in my headphones while I wrap gifts. From the timeless classics that feel like a warm hug to the high-energy bops that get me dancing, this playlist has it all.

The Nostalgic Classics
There are some songs that just define the genre. You can't have a playlist without the absolute classics.

The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) by Nat King Cole: In my opinion, this is the definitive Christmas song. Nat’s voice is like velvet; it instantly makes the room feel warmer.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland: There is something so bittersweet and beautiful about Judy’s original version. It tugs at the heartstrings every time.

A Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives: You can’t help but smile when this comes on. It’s the sound of classic holiday cheer.

Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson: The perfect instrumental track. It captures the hustle and bustle of the holidays perfectly.

The Party Starters
When it’s time to decorate the tree or bake cookies, these are the tracks I turn up to full volume.

All I Want for Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey: Is it even legally Christmas without Mariah? This is the ultimate holiday anthem, and super special to me since it was the first Christmas song that was ever dedicated to me. :)

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee: A total classic that brings the party vibe immediately.

Merry Christmas Baby by Hanson: I love the pop-rock energy this brings to the mix! It’s fun, upbeat, and undeniably catchy.

You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch by Lindsey Stirling and Sabrina Carpenter: This is such a fun collaboration! Lindsey’s violin skills paired with Sabrina’s vocals give this villain song a fantastic, modern twist.

A Twist on Tradition
I love when artists take a classic and make it entirely their own.

Santa Baby by Shakira: Shakira brings her signature style to this cheeky classic. It’s fun, playful, and totally different from the Eartha Kitt version.

Carol of the Bells by Johnny Mathis: Johnny Mathis brings such a grandeur to this song. It feels cinematic and sweeping.

The Reason for the Season
For those quiet moments of reflection, these powerful arrangements are absolutely stunning.

Mary Did You Know by Tommee Profitt and Jordan Smith: If you want goosebumps, listen to this. The production is epic, and Jordan’s vocals are soaring.

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel by Phillips, Craig And Dean: This ancient hymn is hauntingly beautiful, and this version captures that longing and hope perfectly.

I Saw Three Ships by Twila Paris: A joyful, triumphant rendition that always lifts my spirits.

I’ve compiled all these favorites into an Amazon Music playlist so you can listen along with me!

I hope this playlist brings a little extra magic to your day! Whether you are hosting a party or just enjoying a quiet mug of cocoa by the tree, these songs are sure to set the mood. Tell me in the comments: What is the ONE Christmas song you have to hear every year? Happy listening and Merry Blogmas, Reader!
