One Christmas, thirteen years ago, we decorated in all gold and shades of brown. It makes me cringe just thinking about it now. While I've never gone full millennial gray, I did try the boring beige trend for a while and quickly decided I'd rather live in a cozy yet chaotic landscape than a dull, boring sea of gray and white. I think when we, as a society, decided to drain the color from the world, it took away the whimsy and magic as well. Growing up, some of my favorite Christmas memories were decorating the tree with my family—and not having a single care if it was aesthetically pleasing or not. That feeling is what I chase now.
Today, my tree is full of sentimental ornaments, each one holding a precious memory. Every year since I found out I was pregnant with Elora, we've added a family ornament, and we let the children pick out something special to add to the collection. We also enjoy crafting homemade ornaments, bringing in all the glitter and sequins for extra glitz and glam! Some of my absolute favorite touches include an angel ornament my mom helped me make when I was little (complete with Dorothy Gale-inspired braids and gingham) and the stocking she lovingly sewed for me that I continue to hang each year.
There's something so comforting about the twinkle of warm, white lights that makes the lack of daylight this time of year almost bearable. While I'm up waiting to see if we'll get a dusting (or more!) of snow, I thought instead of just sharing photos of my Christmas decor, I'd put a little video together instead! Come take a tour; you can check it out below, and check out the Blogmas playlist for more!
Thanks for stopping by today, Reader! Merry Blogmas!
